Wooden Wand releases Wither Thou Goest, Cretin

It’s been a long time since MM has used the word cretin, despite it being a prime insult of choice during long-ago school days.

So who better than MM fave Wooden Wand to resurrect it into our daily vocabulary. Following (for him) a rather lengthy silence since the outstanding Born Bad album, he has self-released Wither Thou Goest, Cretin in a limited edition of 200 copies. Each disc is hand numbered and mounted on a square of wood. $11 ppd in the US. He is also working on a new, as yet untitled, album for release in October, produced by Michael Gira of Swans fame and to be released on Gira’s Young God label.

Til then we suggest you track this one down and hope there are still a few left – the only place with any details we found is on this blog: Friday Night Is Killing Me, which only has one post to its name, and may well be the work of Mr Wand himself, but either way, it does have contact details for the album.

It’s worth the effort, try this typically downbeat lead track about buzzards, annoying flies, and baseball diamonds. Pure gold!
