We have to confess that, although they are a favourite of Scottish Kate’s, we’ve never been too enthusiastic about Scottish indie rockers We Were Promised Jetpacks.
This is probably the reason we’ve been a bit slow about getting round to playing their new track Act On Impulse, which precedes new album In The Pit Of The Stomach (out on October 3rd via FatCat).
So better late than never, we’re not too proud to admit we were wrong. The song is an absolute cracker, featuring two minutes of tribal drumming and building guitars as an intro before launching into an anthem of stadium proportions without making the all too common mistake of straying into the territory of over earnest bombast and posturing pomposity (aka U2’s standard fare).
This will be mental live.

I grew up in the 60s and 70s in Scotland and am really into and have always been a fan of indie music, I think this band rates highly on my list of must listen to. Apart from that the lead singer, Adam, is my cousin Linda’s son, but I do rate them.
