Mad Mackerel Recommends…D.B. Rouse

Mad Mackerel Recommends...D.B. Rouse. D.B. Rouse was born and raised in the north woods of Wisconsin, but he’s travelled everywhere with his guitar and worked in Alaska, in Maine, on a Cruise Ship in the Atlantic, and on a horse ranch near Austin Texas. He’s been a goat farmer and a lounge singer, a bartender and a pawn shop cashier, he’s packaged salmon and he’s harvested blueberries.

His latest EP is called Repent and on its seven songs, his wanderings and ramblings from his time spent on the road are beautifully captured and displayed for all to hear. It is music with a restlessness at its heart, a yearning to keep moving, and a quiet acceptance to face whatever is round the corner, whether it be good or bad, with the same equilibrium and philosophy.

Repent is a superb collection of beautifully judged poignancy and pathos, of self-reflection, regrets and dreams and it deserves a wide audience. Have a listen to one of our favourite tracks.
