Mad Mackerel Recommends…ABADABAD

Mad Mackerel Recommends...ABADABAD.

It has taken us a while to get round to listening to The Wild, the new EP from Boston’s ABADABAD. It took us a lot less time to become seduced by their sweetly chiming charms.

Striking a balance somewhere between (the good bits) of Vampire Weekend, Ariel Pink’s lo-fi haze, and The Beach Boys irrevocable harmonies, the EP is in turns, hypnotic, pensive and infectious.

Catchy, staccato guitar melodies are to the fore, with lead singer and songwriter Jeremy Lee Given’s southern drawl adding a compulsively beautiful twist to each of the EP’s seven tracks. Park Slope (I’m Sorry) undoubtedly stands as the EP’s emotional crux point – slowed to a pulsating groove and rippled with high notes.

Stream new track All The Bros Say below, whilst Park Slope can be grabbed from their Bandcamp page.

Over to you.
