We’re big fans of Table Scraps’ fuzzed-up, scuzzy rock’n’roll that draws as much from Dinosaur Jr as it does the Cramps or even Suicide.

Excellent new single I’m A Failure (from just released, and also excellent long player Autonomy), comes with a top notch sock-puppet video. And frankly anyone who doesn’t love a sock puppet doesn’t have a soul.

Watch it here.

Birmingham trio Table Scraps create black-hearted garage punk which fully embraces the good, the bad and the ugly of rock’n’roll’s twisted lineage and various mutations. They were in our 2015 best of lists and have announced their new album Autonomy and shared a brand new track from it, Sick Of Me.

Of the song, Scott Vincent Abbott of the band has said “‘Sick of Me’ is about when friendships stagnate and minor annoyance gives way to mouldering resentment. Then juxtapose that feeling on top of a jangly sunshine pop backdrop (or as close to that as we ever get!). The echo of our breeze block 5m x 5m (and very un-soundproofed) room also perfectly suited the track’s claustrophobic feel. It’s dedicated to everyone just about keeping a lid on telling that one person how you really feel and cutting them loose.”

The single is out on vinyl and backed with ominous instrumental Mequinenza.

With Motorcycle (Straight To Hell) Table Scraps delivered one of our favourite songs of the year. So it is fitting then that they should appear in our daily round up of festive (and not so festive) tunes.

This is a case of the latter which sounds as sinister as could be (and with their apologies to Slade of course).

Barely a year old, and yet Table Scraps have already developed a sizeable reputation for their fuzz and tape-echo drenched punk noise, built over a stand-up drum set and a single guitar fed through four amps.

Latest single is the excellent Motorcycle, taken from their recent debut album More Time For Strangers.

Give it a spin.
