Here are our favourite albums of 2016. We have to go against the flow a bit and say up front there is no place for David Bowie. New From GOAT

Posted: September 15, 2016 in Alternative, Indie, Music, Psychedelic, Rock

Hot on the heels of The Lovely Eggs new single we also have a new track from kaleidoscopic Swedish psych-explorers Goat.

Union of Mind and Soul sees the band continue the catchy but stripped down, unplugged approach that was heard on I Sing in Silence. At the new single’s core is a driving acoustic guitar and a ridiculously catchy recorder riff that will have you humming for hours well after the track is over.

Union of Mind and Soul doesn’t actually feature on the new album Requiem – this is an alternative, eerier version to the track Union of Sun and Moon, which the album opens with… clear? Thought not.

Never mind, listen anyway.

Another From GOAT

Posted: August 16, 2016 in Alternative, Electronic, Folk, Indie, Music, Psychedelic, Rock

Alarms is the latest offering from GOAT’s forthcoming album, Requiem, which is out on the 7th October.

This new track highlights the folk influence that runs through the album, with acoustic guitars and hand-percussion instruments driving the song, while retaining the hypnotic vocals and fuzz-drenched guitar leads the band is known for.

New Single From Goat

Posted: April 4, 2016 in Alternative, Music, Psychedelic, Rock

Last year Goat released the single It’s Time for Fun, which saw the band experimenting with drum machines, and brought a different pulse to their tribal psych.

This desire to explore new sounds continues with their new single I Sing in Silence. But instead of ‘plugging in’ new instruments the band have ‘unplugged’ and created an addictive groove with mostly un-amped, acoustic instruments.

Elastic guitar lines, woodblock percussion, and flutes which drive the song are enveloped by one of the strongest vocal deliveries by the band’s enigmatic singers, resulting in a powerful and catchy psych-pop number.

Tune in and drop out below.
