Desert Stars is a five-piece band from Brooklyn, formed at the tail end of 2008, and now releasing their debut long player Habit Shackles.

It is a intriguing mix of indie rock, shoegaze and psych pop, tipping its hat to Beach House certainly, and Mazzy Star, and also with nods to bands like The Walkmen too, but always confident enough (and intriguing enough) to demand more than just too-easy comparisons. There is alluring variety here from the hazy blissed out guitars, the echoing vocals, the woozy piano ballads and the retro-pop tones that entices and smothers in a swirl of gorgeous, warm instrumentation.
