Many assert that George Jones wrote and sang some of the saddest songs ever, and we have been more than willing late disciples to his mournful balladeering and honky-tonk country. A grand introduction can also be had via Deer Lodge Records and their 30 track tribute to the man who died almost exactly a year ago.
The album includes heavy Northwest hitters including Sassparilla, Fernando, Water Tower, Drunken Prayer, Lewi Longmire & Portland Country Underground, Hearts of Oak, and Meredith Brothers and should be a must have for Jones fans, with each band bringing their own, unique style to his classics.
