In honour of England’s apocalyptic, winner-takes-all style clash with Uruguay in Brazil kicking off about now, we have that rarest of treasures, a half-decent football song for you to listen to (and for our friends over the water, that is proper football – the one with the round ball).
It comes from 3D Shark, a punky kind of gent from Belfast, winningly described as “like Mark E Smith with a sense of humour“.
The first decent football song since Half Man Half Biscuit’s All I Want For Christmas Is A Dukla Prague Away Kit, My Name Is Brian Clough is a brilliant example of a mash-up of classic Clough quotes, punk riffing and football swagger.
It comes from his five track EP Some Boys Like To Hide Away, which also includes a song about snooker legend Rocket Ronnie O’Sullivan.
Winner all round in our book.
Come on England…
