Chill out to Buffalo Moon

Like most in the blogging world, we are partial here at MM to something that can be placed under those chillwave, psych, lo-fi banners. It exploded in 2009 and shows no sign of abating this year.

What it does mean of course that you have to be pretty good now to make yourself heard and unlike most Buffalo Moon pass that test with flying colours. Their release Wetsuit is out now on Moon Glyph, and happily ticks all the requisite boxes: summery pop, beach references, breezy beats and sweet lounge vocals. However, this five piece from Minneapolis also have songs and humour – in abundance, which allied to the use of trumpet and clarinet and the mixed English and Spanish singing gives the whole dreamy package an exotic and  experimental feel.

The first single Poolside Dreaming is a sultry light pysch gem and Beach Boy has been on repeat here since we first heard it. Overall  a most promising addition to the ranks and we look forward to hearing more from them – much more.

If any are left you can purchase tapes from Moon Glyph here or CDs from the band here.
