The Veils 2009 album Sun Gangs met with much approval at the Mackerel headquarters, spending much time in Mrs M’s car as the album of choice. Now after nine years with Rough Trade, the band are releasing their first new material since then with the release of a six track EP on their own Pitch Beast Records called Troubles Of The Brain.

Lead track Bloom is a nicely taut and hypnotic affair with an almost Wilco-esque bassline and recalls some of the very best moments on Sun Gangs, and we can’t offer a better recommendation than that. Its melodic, unpredictable and very, very good!
