This week I’ve had a Charlie Bucket moment. I’ve got a golden ticket, I’ve got a golden ticket. Oh, yes indeed. I’m going to see the Cave Singers LIVE. And yes, I do realise they aren’t playing just for me, but the doors of the chocolate factory are open, and I’ve got a ticket to go in. I just can’t wait.

Continuing in a this merry vein (I can almost hear the Swiss outpost toppling off a snowy ridge), I’d like to re-direct y’all back to MM’s musical offering in honour of St Valentine. I have literally made MM’s ears bleed with my rhapsody about both outstanding tracks: Two Wounded Birds (my 2011 tip for greatness) and Cheyenne Marie Mize (covering a Bonny Prince Billy track with such tenderness and poignancy) both deserve your ears. Right now.

Looking forward to some time with the sprats in the wilds of Mackemland next week. Heavy rain and some snow forecast. Maybe a bit of wind off the sea, a fret blowing in. We’ll still be down at the beach, perhaps an ice-cream in hand. And they will enjoy it like I had to. He he.

PS I have just been trawling back through January and I missed a song. And some. This is just one of the very best songs I’ve ever heard. A voice so pure, it makes the hairs on the back of my neck stand up. I must have played this 20 plus times today. Raw. Honest. Truthful. Deeply, deeply affecting. This is like everything you’ve ever thought and felt when you were 19 or 37 or 72. There really is so much to hear. Blows all the impostors straight out of the water. Hoo-bloody-ray for the Riff Raff.
