The Graceful Slicks make a perfect follow-on from today’s Night Beats post being the meandering jam (pun intended) in the Night Beat’s rumbling sonic sandwich.

They are a relatively new band and hail from our own home town of Oxford. We received a cool looking demo CD in the post and having seen some nice words about them from our friend Ronan (who runs Oxford’s brilliant Nightshift magazine), and knows all things musical locally, good and bad, we were keen to give them a listen.

On the CD shelves they would happily find a place between Ride, Spacemen 3 and the Brian Jonestown Massacre and with that name a sense of humour is clearly involved too. While heavy on the psych and drone there are pleasing surf twangs and some shoegaze to keep everyone happy.
