Deer Tick are one of those bands that are right at the zenith of MM’s affections, and it is true to say that a new record from them is as eagerly anticipated as just about any band’s could be.

And so it was that we were very happy to discover that Deer Tick’s new album Divine Providence (their fourth in five years) will be released on Partisan Records on October 25th. In the words of front man John McCauley, “Man, you can practically smell the sweat and the beer! Shit, you may even hear a guitar or two break somewhere in there! It’s got a little Exile, it’s got a little In Utero, it’s got a little Nilsson Schmilsson, but it’s 100% Deer-Fucking-Tick in our purest, and most carefree form.”

Sounds good to us, but proof is in the pudding as they say, and you can’t get better evidence than first song from the album Miss K. It has the makings of (another) DT classic.
