Savaging Spires Debut Album

Savaging Spires Debut Album. We posted back in May about mysterious UK duo Savaging Spires and their spooky mix of freakish aicd-folk and psychedelic drone.

Recently we received a copy of their self-titled debut album on vinyl which is a lovely object in itself, and a few plays has revealed plenty more delights too. There’s is a world of twilight and shadowy murmurs, of glimpses of overgrown country houses where old ghosts can walk imparting doses of dread and joy – part ambience, part melody, and sometimes choral, it feels spontaneous and shadowy in equal parts.

Songs range from the poignant (Bending the Rules Of Time) to the charming (Photographic Memory), and from the fragile (stunning six and a half minute album closer Seconds In Motion) to the sinister (Crows), but throughout the overall sense is one of a haunting, almost playful record that tugs at the edges of the real world to reveal tantalising sights of somewhere altogether more interesting and enticing – somewhere where the possibilities are endless and from which you might never return.

Available now on Critical Heights – you can buy the album from Boomkat here. You can also catch them live tomorrow (24th Sept) on a cracking bill at Cafe Oto in London – £5 tickets here.
