Six Shooter Records’ Melissa McClelland and Luke Doucet tie the musical knot with the debut of their new band, Whitehorse, marrying their talent and chemistry on stage as a smoldering duo. Gutsy and resolute in their pursuits of sound and substance, Luke and Melissa’s fusion of the personal and professional brings to mind the road-tested romance of Johnny and June.

We’re latecomers to their self-titled album, which came out towards the end of the summer, but we’re busy making up for lost time. Take a listen to the seductive desert blues stomp of Killing Time Is Murder with its insistent percussive groove and faultless harmonised vocals. With the whole thing clocking in at less than half an hour, this is a definite case of less is more as the pair barely hit a false note over the eight songs – highly recommended.
