Story Books come from the Isle of Sheppey, just off Kent’s eastern coastline. There is not much information to be found about them at the moment, but this demo for Peregrine is a perfect introduction. It is melancholic, sombre, downbeat, bleak even, and yet there is something curiously uplifting about the song – it may be the rich warmth of Kris Harris’s voice, or the rousing guitar interlude that occurs just after the two minute mark and rudely shakes the song free of its restraints before it collapses back in on itself in world weary resignation.
