Mrs Mackerel’s TFI Friday…on Sunday (5th February)

Mrs Mackerel's TFI Friday...on Sunday (5th February).

Submerged in snot and snow, I have emerged this chilly Sunday evening just to pop my head above the parapet and write a paltry Sunday offering (sorry MM, late again!)

It did also mean that I was absent from the Mackerel bobsleigh this lunchtime and only put in a below par and croaky performance at Gooner Ian’s birthday yesterday. (Don’t we all love to be princess for our special day? I think he wore his tiara rather well).

This evening’s offering comes from the indefatigable and supremely talented Mark Lanegan. If this man was English, he would have come from Sunderland. Full stop. And I would be his hopeless PA (if he had one, which I doubt). I would be sacked quite quickly for being too chirpy, slow at my job and frightened of the boss (but only in a good way).

Just like now really… The Gravedigger’s Song is from his new album. There’s a brilliant electronica-style drum beat throughout, with the trademark ML growling vocal delivery. I read somewhere he’s been listening to a lot of Kraftwerk while making this record. But I don’t care about Kraftwerk: dig a hole and throw me in Lanners.
