We first came across A Silent Film supporting Barry-Sean’s faves Echo & The Bunnymen at the Carling Academy in Oxford. Then again at Truck Festival when oldest Mackerel sprat purchased a A Silent Film T-Shirt (or more accurately had one purchased for him).
They are yet another product of Oxford’s ever fertile music scene, and have a new album titled Sand & Snow due out on June 5th. The band have been relentlessly touring the US supporting such acts as The Temper Trap, Smashing Pumpkins and Civil Twilight. Recorded in various studios in Arizona, Texas and London, there is a Beat Poetry-esque meter to the record – like a Brit-pop score to Jack Kerouac’s On The Road.
First single Danny, Dakota & The Wishing Well is an epic, expansive indie rock song bursting forward with powerful emotional hooks and a soaring chorus. Check it out here.
