Hysterical Injury are a brother/sister noise-pop duo from Bristol/Bath and they have a new single Icebreak due out this week. It is the second single to be taken from their album Dead Wolf Situation.
The song is about expectations, and frustration with the glacial pace of change, personally and socially. “Can I see if we break the ice / before we turn into ammonites?”, vocalist Annie sweetly sings to open the song, but that sweetness contrasts perfectly with a muscular, thrumming riff, and later, “Call the forces, call the arms…” All in all it is a mighty powerful package wrapped up into three and a half minutes.
