Sharkmuffin is the dirty pop rock lovechild of singer/guitarist, Tarra Thiessen, bassist, Natalie Kirch, and drummer, Drew Adler. The Brooklyn based garage-popsters will release a new 7″ single next month.
Their 90s alternative girl group-esque hooks are paired with heavy, hooky 70s-inspired guitar riffs to good effect. The 7″ features The Lake, a living eulogy to a best friend lost in a sea of addiction. Somehow, singer and guitarist Thiessen grapples with her emotional disconnect by turning the tragic experience of her best friend and former Sharkmuffin front-woman’s heroin overdose into a triumphant tune that echoes love and loss.
The single also includes a Pussy Riot inspired b-side and a stoner rock hidden track.
