Introducing >>> Clear

Apparently Clear are very closely connected to Richard Hawley, and the band’s members variously record, gig or produce with him. And, so the story goes, Hawley’s producer dragged Clear into the studio when he heard just how good their songs were.

And judging by the reaction of the good and the great to single Sunlight, he was right to do so. It is simply a beautifully constructed, perfectly judged pop song that draws on the classic west coast sound of the late 60s and early 70s. The band use the influences of Neil Diamond, James Taylor, Jackson Browne et al to create something anew of sweet, honeyed warmth undercut with the slightest tinge of melancholy.

Like Tom Robinson says, “a piece of classic pop songwriting – in that it could have appealed to audiences anytime in the last 40 years“.

Hear hear.

And now hear for yourself.
