Introducing >>> Velvet Morning

Hailing from Southend-on-Sea, but sounding more like a collision between one of Warhol’s 60s New York art parties and moody krautrock from the 70s German underground, it is surely no coincidence that Velvet appears in the name.

Paranoia by Velvet Morning is also appropriately titled as a song, as languidly repeating guitar lines and multilayered instrumentation swirl under hazy vocals, combining to create a perfect atmosphere of barely concealed unease and chemically induced delusions.

Predominantly siphoning psych stalwarts including The Brian Jonestown Massacre, The Jesus & Mary Chain, Psychedelic Furs and Spacemen 3, the bands’ creative output also inadvertently adheres to a golden age of new cosmic idols – Moon Duo, Night Beats, White Fence, Hookworms and Psychic Ills to name a few.

All of the above have appeared on Mad Mackerel and we’re pleased to have Velvet Morning join them – they make good bedfellows and mighty fine company.
