We’re loving the punk-pop of Hot 97 Summer Jam, the lead track from a new EP from Chumped called That’s The Thing Is Like. It precedes a debut full length, Teenage Retirement later in the autumn.

Describing themselves as “bummer punk”, the track has an opening salvo which just about sums up their expectations of the classic girl-meets-boy scenario.

“We’re reading books
We’re drinking coffee
I’m looking at you
You’re looking through me
I would wait for you all summer long
You would turn me away”

A winning combination of fatalism, brashness and studied indifference, it is available from Anchorless Records.
