Ranchus is a four piece indie rock band from the Faroe Islands, formed more or less by accident in the fall of 2013.

Rather bizarrely named after the king of goldfish, Ranchus still seems to be a fitting name for a band hailing from a fisher-nation. Their sound ranges from raw, slightly lo-fi angular rock to something softer and more melancholic – imagine something between The Violent Femmes and the Chameleons.

Their debut album is titled Feeling Like A Caged Lion Pacing Behind One Way Glass. Take a listen to a couple of tracks from it below; the propulsive, dynamic Cuz Of U, and the brooding, ominous post-punk of Promises.
