Have to confess to being somewhat ignorant of the Membranes and their place in punk history despite the presence of John Robb in their ranks. Having formed in 1977 and released six studio albums, the last being in 1989, they reformed for a festival appearance in 2009 and now have a new long player Dark Matter/Dark Energy via Cherry Red, which came out last week.

We heard this track, Do The Supernova, from it on Radio 6 a few nights ago and it had us scrabbling for a pen and paper. The best compliment we can pay is that at first we thought it was a long lost punk anthem from, yep, 1977.
