Austin Plaine is a singer-songwriter from Minneapolis whose self-titled debut album is being released via Washington Square/Razor & Tie on the 11th September.
With influences from classic Dylan to Ryan Adams via Springsteen and Kurt Cobain, you can hear why his plaintive lyrics and calming rasp have earned early praise. His music, at times both unsettling and a comfort, has been hailed as “the soundtrack for nostalgia-drunk road trips.” And his voice: “Like worn flannel and faded jeans.“.
Both are in evidence on Houston, a first taste of first class folksy Americana from the record that you can stream below, and so is his way with words.
Losing don’t mean nothing when there’s nothing to lose
living isn’t living when I’m missing you
Have a listen.
