100 Songs In 100 Hours: 58 – Electric Eye

Norway might seem an unlikely home for traces of the golden psychedelic reveries of the 60s and the lyrical and scenic prog-rock of the 70s, but these are alive and kicking in Electric Eye’s music.

Moreover, their new album Different Sun also adds a dose of motoric, German sounds, plus Indian drone music and over 40 minutes take the listener on seven journeys, all drenched in tape echo, sitar sounds, backwards guitar solos, bongos and monotonous fuzz bass. A dynamic rollercoaster where the landscape soon fluctuates between open and calm desert moods, and then suddenly ignites the rocket engines and leaves the atmosphere once and for all.

Set the controls for the heart of the sun and immerse yourself in the sonic delights of Bless.
