A (Belated) Round Up.

We missed these recently. You shouldn’t!

First up are three tracks from Castle Face’s new re-imagining of the Velvet Underground & Nico album to celebrate 45 years since that seminal release. It features previous MM alumni The Fresh & Onlys, Burnt Ones, and Thee Oh Sees amongst others – and is limited to just 1,000 copies, on banana yellow vinyl with original art by another MM fave David Shrigley – it is a pretty neat package. Download Ty Segall’s maniacal take on Femme Fatale and listen to White Fence doing Run Run Run and Kelly Stoltz tackling Sunday Morning.

We also have another hypnotically brilliant track from The Luyas new Animator album, together with the bizarre prospect of Kate Nash guesting on a Fidlar track from their forthcoming self-titled debut – and don’t worry it’s really good. Alternatively check out the psych-blues of American Royalty’s Matchstick or (in a similar vein) Leapling’s Seventeen. Elsewhere Deerhoof and Half Waif are the latest free download in the Less Artists More Condos singles series.

Honeymilk’s debut single It Might Be is as boisterous and as spiky a slab of indie rock as anything we’ve heard recently, and there is another very welcome taste from Outer Minds and their new album Behind The Mirror. By contrast Tamarin play a gentle blend of sweetly introspective folk, Seems A Laugh comes from recently released long player Shake The Ghost.

Weinland’s new album Los Processaur is out on the 6th November and there are echoes of the Decemberists in the literary tones of Another Dollar Rainy Day. Mini Dresses are a new dream pop band from Austin, Texas whose free download of Hot Sun sounds like the Cocteau Twins on meth amphetamine (in an entirely good way).

From Rollo & Grady’s excellent Best New Artists of 2012 feature we have Tashaki Miyaki’s brilliant cover of Father John Misty’s Hollywood Forever Cemetery Sings and finally we also have Daniel Rossen’s stunningly gorgeous 2009 track Untitled, which is one of his demo tracks that has been “lying around”, and which he is now giving away for free.
