Despite being a mere 23 years old, Zachary Lucky’s new album The Ballad Of Losing You will be his sixth long player release.

A prolific artist maybe, and also a mainstay of the prairie folk scene, but more importantly he has created a record of striking and memorable tunes based on an earnest and personal narrative about the uncertainty of loss and of transformation.

It is a serious and heartfelt listen – one that sacrifices modern perfection for an older sensibility, character and quality of tone and mood – and all the more welcome for it.
