New Bands, New Singles, New Stuff – A Round-Up (Pt. 1)

New Songs New Bands New StuffHaving returned from a few sunny days on the coast the in-box has been bulging with new singles, new bands and all manners of new stuff that is well worth sharing.

So dive in and have a listen and we’ll put some more up tomorrow.

San Diego’s Sister Speak’s first single from new album Rise Up For Love is the gritty Americana of Chicago Dream, whilst Wolvves’ offering Home is a stoned surfing-skater-punk classic in waiting.

Philadelphia-based foursome Mumblr are readying their first full-length album, Full of Snakes, due out September 16th via Fleeting Youth Records. The first song from the album is appropriately enough, the pummelling indie rock of Philadelphia. By contrast Helsinki’s Koria Kitten Riot’s Cold Cold Arms bring together pedal steel, country infused guitars and vocal lines to create a charming and alluring sound, that recalls the mellower end of Wilco’s spectrum and even Neil Young.

Passport To Stockholm’s new single Imperfections is a lovely slice of gently pastoral folk-rock, and in a similar vein, but from the other side of the pond, comes Manna Frost Trio’s Show Up Alone, the new single from their upcoming album Overgrowth.

Dead Sexy Sheila who play what they call psychedelic junk rock, take their influences from garage, goth, surf and indie rock and call to mind bands like Thee Oh Sees, Pavement and Gun Club. They are releasing a new single from their upcoming EP, Death Bat Flies Again, simply called Death Bat Flies. The equally exhilerating Menace Beach’s new single is a double A-sided release Tennis Court/Lowtalkin’, you can download the latter, a sub-two minute blast of fuzzed-up noise, below.

Lastly we have the gorgeous pedal steel and 5am woozy, country melancholia of Emma Swift’s Bittersweet which comes from her recently released self-titled debut mini-album (which we are very much looking forward to getting very well acquainted with – buy from Bandcamp here).
