While the name Jonathan Boulet might not sound very “punk rock“, don’t judge a book by its cover.
His latest album, Gubba (out in the UK today via Popfrenzy Records) is music hewn from the rich seams that gave us The Melvins, Les Savy Fav, Jesus Lizard and co.
Direct and uncompromising Gubba bludgeons like a doom record sped up to garage-punk tempos, and is for anyone who likes their music riffy, catchy, but with a thick, scummy outer layer. That’d be us then!
Stream a couple of tracks here including the album opener Don’t Call Me Champ and the appropriately named Creeper. Buy from Bandcamp here.
