Common Prayer’s debut album, There Is A Mountain, was officially released yesterday through most digital retailers.
The band is the new project from Jason Russo of Hopewell/Mercury Rev acclaim. The album is one of jangly off-kilter pop songs, often somber in theme, and concerned with the lives of the heartbroken, reckless, romantic and mentally ill from a reflective and victorious post-everything perspective.
To begin with, I confess I wasn’t sure about advance track Us vs. Them, but when it popped up this morning on iTunes as I remain convalescing in bed, I was suddenly struck not just by how good the song was, but how much I was really enjoying it. These as we know, can be very different things and so we resolved to post it, and let you make up your own minds. We’re looking forward to giving the whole album a good spin as soon as possible!
The album also gets a physical release in the UK on the 19th July via Big Potato Records.
