Mad Mackerel Recommends…Jaill

Wisconsin four-piece Jaill are a Sub Pop! signing and will be releasing their album That’s How We Burn on July 27th. They are from the more raucous end of the label’s spectrum with riffs and gunfire drumming a-plenty. Our favourite is The Stroller, a gritty psych-rocker of great promise with Everyone’s Hip not far behind. You can pre-order here. You can visit their MySpace here. … Continue reading Mad Mackerel Recommends…Jaill

Mad Mackerel Recommends…The Stone Foxes

Although from the West Coast, to MM’s ears, The Stone Foxes play no-nonsense, straight up southern rock, but thankfully do it really well. While we suspect that there might be a Drive-By Truckers album or two in their collection, it doesn’t detract from the enjoyment of listening to the full on bluesy roar of I Killed Robert Johnson (a confessional from the point of view of … Continue reading Mad Mackerel Recommends…The Stone Foxes

Since it arrived last week, New Yorker Alexa Wilding’s self-titled debut EP has been getting a lot of play here at MM.
