Mess Around is the debut EP by Milwaukee’s Trent Fox & The Tenants. It’s five tracks of garage infused rock n roll with added swagger and a whole bunch of attitude. It is out on the 22nd February on the Kind Turkey label.
Their songs are all grimy snapshots of young adult life in Riverwest, Milwaukee – one of the poorest and most economically devastated cities in the United States. Like they say, the EP is the perfect mix for a warm summers day with a beer on the porch or that cold winter night where gunshots rain and sirens scream through the snow. We can picture the first, we don’t get a lot of the second here in rural Charlbury.
Highly recommended for fans of the Black Lips, Nobunny, Wheels on Fire and the Smith Westerns First LP, the label have made a big effort with the EP. The art is screen printed and hand numbered with each copy having the art burned by a candle to give a rustic/personal touch. First 100 copies have a Green n Gold color scheme in honor of the NFC title (hadn’t yet won the Superbowl when the records went to the plant!) for the Green Bay Packers – yellow vinyl with green labels.
The record will be available from iTunes, Amazon and other retailers. Download the EP’s excellent title track below and then go buy a copy of the record – pre-order is currently up and running on the Kind Turkey Site.
