Virginia’s The Diamond Center take great joy in harnessing the wild beast of psych rock with some surf-ish reverb and a hint of spectral country noir and forcing them all together to submit for an epic joy ride of the senses.
New single, Caraway, has a haunting, echoing melancholy that spreads over almost six and a half pulsing minutes and somehow manages to soothe and surprise in equal measure. This is a song for all those who have ever owned and enjoyed a record by The Velvet Underground, by Espers or even by Neko Case!
Heading on tour down to Austin and back for SXSW this month Diamond Center will also play Houston, Harrisburg, Richmond, Somerville, and NYC throughout March in support of their 7-inch being released via Some Day This Will All Make Sense.
The band will return to Austin in late April/May for Austin Psych Fest, a smorgasbord of the finest psychedelic artists.

I love this – so nightmarishly floaty. It’s like a darker, tortured Cibo Mato (“Sugar Water”) or Smoke City (“Underwater Love”). Great find.
