The Lucid Dream released their new single Love In My Veins on the 30th May so we’re about a week late on this one.
No matter, because it is an absolute stormer of a track. From the off, it displays guitar riffs soaked in psychedelic blues with pounding drum rolls and reverb drenched vocals. The track builds and picks up tempo with crashing cymbals and the introduction of an organ which carries the track along to a huge ending.
The B-side to this release Devil Rides Out is a remix by Richard Norris of I Got the Devil. Norris, was once of The Grid, The Time and Space Machine and more recently one half of Beyond The Wizard’s Sleeve with Erol Alkan.
The Lucid Dream formed in Carlisle in 2008. They first came to public attention through a split 10” single released by Leeds based record label Dead Young. This earned the band favourable comparisons to Suicide and The Jesus and The Mary Chain. These comparisons were reaffirmed when a demo version of Love in My Veins featured on the Psilocybin Sounds compilation Open Your Mind, alongside The Brian Jonestown Massacre and another band we recently featured, The Keys.
Take a listen to the single and grab yourself the b-side below. We rarely, if ever, can be bothered with remixes, but the a-side is so good we’re making an exception just this once!
