We’ve been sat on this for a little while trying to work out how best to describe it, and while we’ve not found a definitive answer to that conundrum, it was no good reason to not post about Hot Head Show.

The trio are experimental certainly, but that’s like simply saying the sun is quite warm. They are hugely unsettling one moment and sweetly melodic the next, wilfully sludgy then aggressively staccato, confrontational and conciliatory, crooning like Nick Cave and yammering like Captain Beefheart. By rights, it should make for one unholy and uncoordinated shit storm, but “by rights” doesn’t apply here (few of the standard reference points do), and debut album The Lemon LP is as unique and as inventive as anything we’ve heard for a long time.
