Introducing...Screen Gems.

Screen Gems are a new band to us, but we were told about this track Jazz Records by the wonderful Savaging Spires who produced it, so we knew it would be worth a listen.

In typical fashion, all they revealed was “London / Washington DC based band. Recorded in Stoke Newington, London. In a studio surrounded by massive foxes roaming the streets with narrowed eyes that ask you if you are finished with your curry.”

Otherwise we can tell you that it features vocals by John and Puerto Rican guitar by James, and is just under two minutes of the best, catchiest, woozy, off-kilter, hazy, messed up screwball psych-pop that we’ve heard all year. Imagine if you will, a wrecked Wooden Wand jamming with Roky Erickson and the ghost of Syd Barrett and…no, not even close.

Just download it. Now.

Apparently they are big fans of the Go-Betweens. WTF?

“I had a woman or should I say she had me?
I stabbed a man or should I say he stabbed me?
