Jemez Mountain Hawkz is single-handedly blurring the lines between Americana and indie pop with their debut EP, Hey-Mez, which the band released yesterday.
The brainchild of former Scared of Chaka bassist Dameon Lee Waggoner, the group has created a sound that is reminiscent of classic Southern California interwoven with southern rock circa 1969 and contemporary indie vibes. Think a modern day Flying Burrito Brothers, and take a listen to the wonderful Long Ride Home inspired by the wide open spaces of New Mexico.
