We’ve featured the roaming troubadour D.B.Rouse a few times on MM, and it is a pleasure to be able to post about an excellent new album, West Via East, which was released digitally at the beginning of July. It was recorded across the street from the hotel that Gram Parsons died in, and that on its own should tell you plenty about this record.
It is another wonderfully judged collection of outsider folk, country rockers, protest songs and rumbling rockabilly rhythms – topped with more than a little in the way of acerbic, lacerating lyrics. As usual it can be picked up on a name-your-price deal on Bandcamp here.
Check out the video for I-90 below and listen to another of our favourites, album opener Trainwreck, from the record too.
