Over the course of ten studio albums Reverend Horton Heat has consistently delivered a blend of straight up rock’n’roll, fizzing country punk, and crazed rockabilly – all underpinned by huge handfuls of swaggering black humour.
Thankfully, as Spooky Boots the first taste of his eleventh album Rev, testifies, the band haven’t messed with a winning formula. The song itself tells of a friend’s hopeless search for a girlfriend (the Spooky Boots of the title) who has been searching the town square in Santa Fe every Saturday for her since she upped and left…in 1969.
The album is out on 21st January – pre-order it here.
