Last September we ran an “Introducing” post on The Ukiah Drag.
We described their cassette release Jazz Mama Is Cryin as four tracks of brilliantly bleak, desolate, and warped blues and acid-rock – taut, tense, hypnotic and all consuming – like the evil offspring of Giant Sand and the Birthday Party.
Now they have a new 7″ primed for release. The Dirt Trip is the band’s first studio output recorded by Ben Greenberg of The Men and offers two deliciously menacing tracks. The eponymous A-side wields a heavy creep-beat that cleans your dusty clock and takes you for a bourbon afterwards – self-conceited punk hypnosis. The B-side consists of their rendition of the Stones/Coasters classic Poison Ivy.
Listen to both below. Pre-order the 7″ here.
