For one reason and another we were unable to create the time to see Mirel Wagner at the Great Escape, which was perhaps the single biggest disappointment for us of the whole weekend scheduling.

Even more so, now we’ve heard Oak Tree, the first taste from her forthcoming album for Sub Pop, the brilliantly and ominously titled When The Cellar Children See The Light Of Day.

Oak Tree is the tale of unsettling devastation, a tale told from the perspective of a buried corpse…and with some of the most stunning vocals you’ll hear this side of Christmas.
