Ancestor by Stone Jack Jones was one of our favourite new discoveries of the year, a beautifully poignant tribute to his father.

The follow-up Love & Torture will be released next March. The album is a sonic dialog, at times experimental, that pulses with all of the grace and bliss that has touched Jack’s incredible life – he has been given the last rites on the two separate occasions the rare and mysterious blood condition that courses through his steely West Virginian veins almost killed him.

This time spent at death’s door has given him a pretty unique perspective on life, and it gives his music an authenticity and honesty that is all too rarely found nowadays.
