Stiff Cats are a psych-rock band with one foot firmly, and unapologetically set in the more acid-fried end of the swinging sixties. Thankfully the other is embedded in more contemporary times allowing them to pay their dues to their influences without slipping into pastiche or parody.
Watch the videos for Electric Velvet (the title taken from a quote from Tom Wolfe’s counter-culture classic The Electric Kool-aid Acid Test. The video was filmed on a nudist beach near Barcelona) and the heavier, more ominous Splinter (the video features a phenomenal trapeze artist with the ghost of another lover in the background and lyrics that reference the poetry of Blake).
