Best known as the lead singer of Glasgow indie-pop girl group TeenCanteen, Carla J Easton has teamed up with Joe Kane from psyche pop outfit Dr Cosmos Tapelab to form a new project, Ette.

Their debut single Spending Christmas With My Boy a festive song about a girl called Carla whose best friend just happens to be a cat, and boasts cover art that is our favourite of the season so far. Mrs M is well known for her love of silver tabby cats herself.

Carla says: “Spending Christmas With My Boy is about going home at Christmas to my family home and hanging out with my cat Bez. Sadly, he passed away at the beginning of this year. I had him for 15 years and he was pretty much the best cat ever. ‘Spending Christmas With My Boy’ for me is a song about seeing family that one time of year. More importantly, it’s a song about family. At Christmas, I think you should be with those who mean the most to you.”

Amen to that. Listen below.
