Nashville-based storyteller Jeremy Ivey has released his debut album The Dream and the Dreamer today.
Until now he has operated in the background, for years performing in bands like Secret Handshake and country-soul group Buffalo Clover with his wife, celebrated country-rock luminary Margo Price. At 40, Ivey is ready to take a step into the spotlight and on the evidence of this record it is long overdue.
Ivey cites everyone from the Beatles to Neil Young, Leonard Cohen, and Bob Dylan as influences, but the nine-song album manages to sound original and contemporary, hosting a collection of homespun, deeply introspective tracks drawing from country, folk and some gentle psychedelia.
