Brooke Bentham’s new single, All My Friends Are Drunk is a song for lost youth and young adulthood.
With influences somewhere between Mazzy Star, Yo La Tengo, Sparklehorse and early Angel Olsen, the young singer/songwriter writes sharp and eloquent songs about her experiences and this one captures “that wishful longing for what was” in the self-destructivity of her and her peers.
It is a truly exemplary display of her talents – creamy overdriven guitars combine with driving rhythms and stunning vocals, giving a Sonic Youth-esque feel to her raw and emotive sound.
