Widowspeak – Calico

We have gradually become more and more enamoured of, and seduced by, the charms of Widowspeak, particularly since the release earlier this year of long player Almanac. The follow up is a EP titled The Swamps, and having already posted the woozy, narcotic True Believer from it back in July, we now have another taste for you in the shape of the equally good, and equally … Continue reading Widowspeak – Calico

Mad Mackerel Recommends >>> Nonagon

We recently were sent The Last Hydronaut, a new six track EP by Chicago three-piece Nonagon – it is out on the 22nd October via Controlled Burn Records. Try hard enough and you can probably … Continue reading Mad Mackerel Recommends >>> Nonagon

Introducing >>> Theo Verney

On his new five track EP, Heavy Sunn, Theo Verney practises a kind of gnarled, grizzly mix of garage rock, psychedelia and grunge that more than pays its dues to his heroes Hendrix, Beefheart and Black Sabbath. Here are two tracks from it, the primal, sullen psych-rock overload of the excellent title track and the ninety second stomp of Count It Up. Out on October 21st … Continue reading Introducing >>> Theo Verney

Kicking us off are indie duo Big Deal and a new single from their much acclaimed album of dark, intoxicating, … Continue reading Monday’s Mega Round-up
